Villa St. Joseph is a non-profit, charitable organization established to provide competent compassionate care in a residential setting to persons in need of long-term care.
This mission of Villa St. Joseph, rooted in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, Pennsylvania, witnesses to a profound love of God and love of neighbor without distinction.

Villa St. Joseph serves all people regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, age, familial status, handicap or disability.

The Villa celebrates its successes with the number of residents who receive rehabilitation services and who are then able to safely return home to the community. The rehabilitation program consists of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and music therapy. The focus of the rehabilitation program is to help each person achieve his or her maximum level of independence in activities of daily living. The program provides individualized therapy programs for each resident, with an emphasis on meeting each resident's personal needs for strengthening, balance, and coordination.

The Music Therapy Program uses music to restore, maintain, and improve the quality of life of our residents. Music therapy is facilitated in group and individual sessions, including our bell choir. Our board-certified music therapist addresses individual goals through a documented care plan process. Music therapy students and interns also support the program during their own learning process as they complete clinical hour requirements at the Villa.

Skilled Nursing Services

The Villa provides skilled nursing care by a team of professional nursing staff members for residents who require intensive nursing services due to their medical complexity. Residents are referred to this service (Baden Unit) from area hospitals for nursing services as a follow up to their hospital stays. The Villa provides skilled nursing services such as IVs, special treatments and medications, and monitoring to best meet the clinical needs of each resident. Many of these residents receive rehabilitation services in addition to intensive nursing care.

Intermediate Nursing Services

The Villa offers long-term, intermediate nursing services for persons who cannot safely return home, and whose personal needs can only be met with the assistance of nursing staff around the clock. Our caring staff provides assistance to our residents in bathing, dressing and feeding, under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals. A focus is placed on meeting the needs of the whole individual by providing a comprehensive activities program, as well as social, emotional and spiritual support.

Alzheimers / Dementia Care

The Villa's Fontbonne Unit provides a safe and structured environment for residents with Alzheimers and dementia. The unit is secure so that residents can walk freely around the unit to various activities areas, such as our Country Kitchens. The programs are structured so that residents are encouraged to maintain activity to meet their individual physical, spiritual, recreational, social and emotional needs. Staff is trained in the philosophy of this specialized care in order to best meet the "quality of the moment" for each resident. The unit is based on the Woodside Program model of dementia care.

Hospice Care

The Villa has by tradition focused on providing support and care to the terminally ill. This support is provided by a variety of professionals including nursing, social services, chaplain, hospice and other staff. A ministry of caring for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each resident in a wholistic manner is evident in these services to our residents and their families.
