The Armstrong County Health Center is a skilled nursing facility located in downtown Kittanning, Pennsylvania. We have been providing the highest quality of nursing care in Armstrong County for 25 years.
Our Medical Director, Dr. Frederick B. Doerfler, Jr.,visits with residents regularly along with Dr. Terrence Moore and Dr. Richard Mercurio. If your own physician is agreeable, you may choose him or her for your care. Nursing staff, including at least one RN, is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Armstrong County Health Center accepts most insurance plans including Medicare, Security Blue, Blue Cross and Medical Assistance programs. ADULT DAY CARE
The Health Center's Adult Day Care program provides a warm and friendly environment for our area seniors to interact with and enjoy fellowship of others. Located on the first floor of the Health Center, this homelike atmosphere features comfortable furnishings, dining area, large screen television and activity space.
Adult Day Care provides a change in scenery, stimulation and socialization for individuals who require care and supervision and provides caregivers a well-deserved break. Whether you are here one or 40 hours a week, activities of interest are planned daily to meet individual needs. For the convenience of our Adult Day Care residents, the Health Center also features an in-house full service barber and beauty shop. Physician ordered rehabilitation services are also available on site.
The Adult Day Care Program at the Armstrong County Health Center is an affordable service with financial assistance available to those who qualify.

INDEPENDENT LIVING SUITES
Independent Living can open up a whole new world for older citizens. You no longer have to worry about snow removal, maintenance, mowing the lawn and other housekeeping responsibilities. Property taxes, insurances and utilities are also no longer a worry.
At Armstrong Suites you can enjoy the pleasure of others' company and maintain the independence and freedom you desire in your older years. The suites are a six-suite, independent living community located in the Armstrong County Health Center in Kittanning.
Two of the six suites offer a choice of double occupancy and each suite is fully furnished, with the option of bringing a few pieces of your furniture. The suites feature their own entrance via a private elevator and phone security. Each suite includes a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area with a small refrigerator, stove top and microwave. We will provide three meals a day and bi-weekly housekeeping services if you choose.
The Armstrong Suites offer a shared dining area, living room with a full-size television, laundry room and private storage facility for the resident's convenience. The dining area is fully furnished with full-size dining room tables, refrigerator, oven and dishwasher. You may enjoy this space with other residents or family and friends.
ON-SITE REHABILITATION
Sundance Rehabilitation provides the Rehabilitation Therapy program at the Armstrong County Health Center. Our new rehab wing features state-of-the-art electronic and computerized equipment. Our licensed, professional staff of therapists can develop an individualized program to meet your rehabilitation needs.

- Speech Pathology
- Outpatient Therapy.
Our new outpatient rehabilitation program has opened its doors to everyone in the community. Ask your physician to specify ACHC for your rehabilitation needs.
SHORT-TERM REHAB UNIT
Our newly designed short term rehab unit is specifically designed to facilitate those individuals who plan to be at the Health Center to rehabilitate and return home.
SNACK BAR
The ACHC Snack Bar is a welcoming environment where families often come to visit with residents or enjoy a meal. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am until 2 pm. Also open to the public, breakfast and lunch are served from a full menu of items.
THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES
Activities are offered daily to residents and cover a wide array of interests. Some of our activities include; Bingo, crafts, coffee club, movies, music and more! Various denominations of church services are offered also. Residents are encouraged to attend and socialize with other residents who are also participating. ACHC features a wheel chair accessible van to transport residents who are able to travel on trips into the community. Our residents enjoy shopping trips to various malls, train rides, community fairs and festivals and the Gateway Clipper. A monthly activity schedule is posted on each unit, detailing the day's activites.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
ACHC welcomes individuals or groups to volunteer in a variety of ways. Our residents enjoy visitors as well as performances and various types of entertainment. To learn more about our volunteer opportunities, please contact Debbie Cornman, ext. 217 or Susan McGaughey, ext. 212.
PALLIATIVE CARE
ACHC's new project of a six-bed Palliative Care Unit will begin construction soon. Palliative Care's purpose is to provide comfort and support to those with acute or chronic life-threatening illnesses while enhancing their quality of life. The unit will include large, private and semi-private rooms fully equipped with beds, dressers and seating for family and visitors. They will also include an attached bathroom with showers to provide a comfortable living environment. Included on the unit will be a conference room, spiritual area, day lounge and public restrooms.
