Medical/Nursing Care

Friendship Ridge provides 24 hour per day skilled nursing services for both the long-term and short-term resident. A team of nurses, physicians, social workers, therapists and others assure that each resident's needs are met.

Interdisciplinary Care Planning Conferences are Friendship Ridge's way of insuring that our residents are getting the best possible care. Resident goal plans are done on a routine basis, initially 8 to 14 days following admission and quarterly thereafter, to insure continuity and quality of care. Goals are specific to each resident. Meetings include the following department representatives: Dietary, Social Services, Nursing, Activity Therapy, Rehabilitation Services as well as any other department involved in the resident's care. Resident and family input is a very important part of this progress. Both the resident and the family members are invited and encouraged to attend these meetings. Working together helps provide the care and environment that makes Friendship Ridge special.

Residents may retain their relationship with their primary care physician or they may choose a physician within the Friendship Ridge Community. Various specialists also visit our on site clinic, enabling the resident to receive the special care needed without leaving the facility. Friendship Ridge maintains a passenger van equipped with a wheelchair lift to transport residents who must leave the facility for medical reasons such as doctor's appointments, dialysis, etc.

Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy

Although Friendship Ridge is widely known for its 24 hour per day skilled nursing care for both the long term and short term resident, quality rehabilitative services are also provided on site by Premier Therapy seven days per week. The resident may receive speech therapy, occupational therapy, and/or physical therapy, depending on the need of the individual.(click here for more information on Therapy and Rehabilitative Services)

Liberty Dialysis Clinic

Liberty Dialysis Clinic recently opened at Friendship Ridge and is located on the first floor of the East Wing. Liberty Dialysis is in partnership with the nephrology group, Dr. Teredesai, McCann and Associates. This is the first dialysis clinic in Beaver County that is housed within a nursing care facility. Providing dialysis within the nursing facility enables patients to avoid the time and inconvenience involved with traveling outside the building. This also reduces transportation costs to Friendship Ridge.

Liberty also dialyzes people from the community at the clinic in Friendship Ridge, as space allows. There is an outside entrance with a wheelchair ramp. It's a small unit with six stations. Currently there are morning and afternoon shifts on both Monday/Wednesday/Friday and Tuesday/Thursday/ Saturday.

Developing the dialysis clinic in Friendship Ridge has made it the "rehabilitation destination" for other dialysis patients in the Beaver Valley. It is the ideal place to recover from a fractured hip or CVA if you also need dialysis. We expect that this new partnership between Friendship Ridge and Liberty Dialysis will be greatly beneficial to both partners, as well as to the community at large.

Activities

Activities are a vital and integral part of living at Friendship Ridge. Residents can design their own crafts, dance and sing to favorite songs, paint, train and compete in the Senior Olympics, participate in our many annual events and field trips, and laugh and converse with one another during meals or over coffee. A main staple of the Friendship Ridge Activity Department is its passenger bus equipped with a hydraulic lift. This enables the staff to take ambulatory and wheelchair bound residents on many social outings throughout the year. The outings include ice cream rides, fishing trips, Christmas tree viewings, shopping trips and leaf viewing in the fall, just to name a few.
