Skilled Nursing

“The Brethren Home: We’re a family that cares.”

The Brethren Home was established in 1921 to provide care for the aging Brethren population. New wings were added to the facility in both 1964 and 1973. The Brethren home has prided itself for many years as being a compassionate and caring facility. Over the years, our facility has been the home for over two thousand residents.

The Brethren Home’s skilled nursing section is licensed for 134 beds. We are Medicare and Medicaid certified. We offer both short-term rehabilitation and long-term admissions. Health professionals, including physicians experienced in geriatric care such as Dr. Patrick Gray who serves as medical director, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants are available for care for our residents. Individual therapies are prescribed by the residents attending physician and administered by qualified therapists. The home also maintains a full-time respiratory therapist. Special attention is given to the dietary needs of the residents. A registered dietitian consultant meets with individuals to assure their dietary needs are properly met. Meals are served in our pleasant dining areas and tray service is available at dining areas in close proximity to the resident rooms.

Spiritual services are provided under the direction of the chaplain, Rev. Warren Lewis. A non-denominational service is held each Sunday and Catholic Mass is celebrated with Communion on Friday. Area ministers, priests and laypersons volunteer their time for these services to meet the variety of denominational needs represented in the home.

Leisure hours are pleasantly filled with crafts, games, outings, picnics, shopping trips, and parties to name a few. Residents are encouraged to take part in social, recreational and religious activities according to their abilities and interests. Cozy comfortable lounges and living areas provide the perfect place for visits with family and friends or just relaxing and reading.
