Welcome to the new, "Ashton Healthcare - A Rehabilitation and Nursing Center." Our facility has a long and rich history in this placid and attractive little town of Athens, Pennsylvania. With over 60 years of "caring for the ones you care for," Ashton Healthcare began as a modest ten room convalescent home privately owned and operated with a strong tradition of home-like and impeccable care.
It has seen quite a few additions and renovations in its 60 plus years with the first in 1960 when the owners expanded from the original ten to 23 rooms. In 1976, the facility was incorporated as a Nursing Facility well-known as the "Heritage Nursing Home" and initiated a three-phase expansion that would span a seven year period.
The first phase began the year after incorporation in 1977 growing the capacity of the facility from 23 to 65 beds. With a continuing focus on the quality of care, the bed count would almost double from 65 to 120. Five years later in 1984, the three-phase expansion was completed when 25 more beds were added bringing the total capacity of the facility to 145 beds which still stands today.
